Vintage creative Kokeshi with cheerful smirk and delightful character. Signed by the artist, this Kokeshi displays a combination of methods, including wood turning, hand-carving, and is made with balance and consideration from two pieces of wood. The spherical, moon like head is painted and though worn with age (with some scuff marks to the face), the character of this Kokeshi is still playful and engaging. With tiny pursed heart shaped lips, big smiling eyes and whisps of hair - pageboy style. The column shaped body has subtle changes to its diameter  to express the  hemline of the kimono and the wide Obi belt. Rich red and deep mauve further accentuate the dress, whilst the hand carved and colour tinted cherry blossom add a festive spring mood. The wear and tear on this Kokeshi is poof that this Kokeshi has already lived a well loved full life!
