A large black lacquered seven facetted vase of elegant tapering form carved with Hasaku oranges and leaves and embellished with silver and gold leaf and metallic powders by Kagawa prefectural Dento-Kogeishi (registered artisan) Fujisawa Junji, circa 1970's

Fujisawa Junji was born in Kagawa prefecture on the island of Shikoku in 1928. He graduated the Kagawa Prefectural Industrial High school in 1945. In 1954 he first exhibited at the Nitten, a major Japanese arts and crafts fair, and has since been a consistent exhibitor.
In the same year he was awarded at the 4th Kansai Sogo Bijutsu Art Exhibition and would be awarded there again in 1957.

In 1964 his works were selected for a traveling exhibit of Japanese artists sent to North and Central America. This particular piece dates from the 1970's.
A two panel screen of similar style from this period in Fujisawa's work is held in the collection of the Kagawa Prefectural Art Museum, with other works from Fujisawa in the collection of the Denver Museum of Art and those of many other public institutions around the world.
