Description
A Japanese Bizen potterya vase with natural firing marks and molten ash colouring on the unglazed surface. Bizenware is one of the oldest pottery styles of Japan and one of the six ancient kilns. It has experienced a revival in popularity since the 1930's.
It is said that food, beer, and sake tastes better using bizenware and flowers last longer in a bizenware vase. When this was tested scientifically, the Bizen style of pottery was shown to block 90% of far infared rays, preserving food and keeping nearby natural materials fresh.
