Learn how to make your own Kokedama bonsai!
On Sunday 16th December, expert florist Azumi of South Yarra florist ByAzumi will be teaching a workshop how to make Kokedama (Japanese moss balls). Explaining this style of bonsai and the art of creating living designs, which closely resemble forms found in nature, Azumi will teach you how to make hanging or sitting Kokedama balls. You will also learn everything you need to know about their maintenance and how to continue creating more at home.
Azumi was born in Osaka, Japan, with an instinctive awareness for the beauty in nature. Growing up, she watched her mother, an ikebana master, create floral art using local, seasonal elements. Training and practising for years years in Germany and then in Japan at one of Tokyo's most respected and high profile florists, she has been immersed in two very strong floristry traditions. Now, based in Australia, she is highly sought after for wedding and interior floral decorations. For Azumi, floral design is not just ornamental, but an essential part of any space. She believes that flowers and natural elements are capable of changing and elevating interiors, be they home, work or special events. Specialising in bringing a sense of nature indoors with her creations, Azumi's arrangements invite us to enter into a calmer and more focused state of presence.
