Japanese Storage Cabinet on Wheels (Karuma-Dansu) – Rare, Unrestored, Edo Period

This rare Japanese Karuma-Dansu (storage cabinet on wheels) is an exceptional piece, crafted from chestnut and cedar woods. With its 200-year-old history, this cabinet hails from the Edo period, circa 1800, making it a truly remarkable find. The use of chestnut and cedar gives the piece a beautiful, natural grain and durability, reflective of the traditional craftsmanship of the time.

The unrestored condition of this cabinet speaks to its age and authenticity, with natural wear and patina that add character and history. If desired, we offer a highly skilled restoration to bring the piece back to its original glory while preserving its unique charm and historical integrity.

The dimensions of the cabinet are:

  • 155cm wide
  • 69.5cm deep
  • 143cm high

The cabinet’s rolling design adds to its practicality, allowing for easy movement and versatile use. Whether placed in an entryway, living room, or office, it serves as both a functional storage solution and a stunning piece of history.
