Artist Biography – Yosenin Karenobu (1753–1808):

Yosenin Karenobu was a prominent Edo-period painter who worked within the Kano school tradition, famous for his ability to balance naturalism with elegant decoration. His works, while deeply rooted in classical Japanese aesthetics, also reflect the growing interest in realistic depictions of nature and animals during his time. As part of the Kano school, Karenobu’s works were highly regarded by the samurai elite and the shogunate for their refinement and decorative value.
