This Vintage Japanese Traditional Kokeshi from the SAKUNAMI family sjows some influence from the NARUKO family and is a good example of an early style of SAKUNAMI. Crabflower decorations on the kimono, with green leaves and stems, which are faded. Signed by the artist. classical SAKUNAMI face has a water drop nose. SAKUNAMI is commonly believed to be the oldest of all the Kokeshi strains. Originating in the MEIJI period. (1868-1912). This Kokeshi has some water damage to the paint and some fading.
