Description

Large ceramic gourd shaped vase with detailed hand painted blue and white design of a butcher on one side and a various meats being prepared for serving on the reverse.

Dimensions:H 49cm x W 30cm x D 15cm

Shin Koyama: Before leaving Japan Shin won major illustration prizes in Tokyo including the 1974 Japan Printmakers Grand Pix, and the 1971 Kodansha Famous School Grand Prix.
He has had numerous solo exhibitions in Japan and has exhibited in Australia at Ray Hughes Gallery in Sydney and Jan Manton Art in Brisbane.

His work has been included in various publications including Hayakawa Mystery Magazine, Hemisphere Magazine and Vogue Living Magazine.In 2010 he established a ceramic painting studio in Jingdezhen, China at the invitation of Sanbao International Ceramic Institute.

He has regular exhibitions at the Institute and is represented in the permanent collection of the Sanbao International Ceramic Museum.

His work was exhibited at the 2012 Shanghai Art Fair and in January 2013 he held a solo show at the V-Art Centre in Shanghai, affiliated with the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts.

Shin established a studio in Arita, Japan in late 2013 where he designs and produces porcelain sculpture in collaboration with local artisans.

In 2014 he held his first solo show at La Lanta Gallery in Bangkok and exhibited at the Hong Kong Affordable Art Fair and at Scope in New York.

His work is held in the permanent collection of the NSW Art Gallery and in numerous private collections.
