Before leaving Japan Shin won major illustrationprizes in Tokyo including the 1974 Japan Printmakers Grand Pix, and the1971 Kodansha Famous School Grand Prix.
He has had numerous solo exhibitions in Japan and hasexhibited in Australia at Ray Hughes Gallery in Sydney and Jan MantonArt in Brisbane.
His work has been included in various publicationsincluding Hayakawa Mystery Magazine, Hemisphere Magazine and VogueLiving Magazine.
In 2010 he established a ceramic painting studio inJingdezhen, China at the invitation of Sanbao International CeramicInstitute. He has regular exhibitions at the Institute and isrepresented in the permanent collection of the Sanbao InternationalCeramic Museum.
His work was exhibited at the 2012 Shanghai Art Fairand in January 2013 he held a solo show at the V-Art Centre in Shanghai,affiliated with the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts.
Shin established a studio in Arita, Japan in late 2013where he designs and produces porcelain sculpture in collaboration withlocal artisans.
In 2014 he held his first solo show at La LantaGallery in Bangkok and exhibited at the Hong Kong Affordable Art Fairand at Scope in New York.
His work is held in the permanent collection of the NSW Art Gallery and in numerous private collections.
