Bound Collection of Prints and Paintings by Kono Bairei (1844-1895)

This bound collection features prints and paintings by Kono Bairei, one of the most prominent artists of the ukiyo-e school during the Meiji period. Bairei is especially renowned for his "Bairei Kacho Gafu" (Bairei's Album of Birds and Flowers), first published in 1883. This work is a classic example of the naturalist style in Japanese art, featuring beautifully detailed depictions of birds, flowers, and plants.

The collection includes a selection of prints and illustrations that showcase Bairei's mastery of nature studies, a hallmark of his work. The prints feature stunning detail and subtle use of color, making them significant pieces for collectors of Japanese woodblock prints and Meiji period art.

The works are often bound into two volumes representing the seasons of Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter, a beautiful reflection of the passing year.

Dimensions:

  • Width: 25 cm
  • Height: 37 cm
  • Depth: 1 cm

This collection is a valuable addition to any collection of Meiji-era or ukiyo-e art, offering a window into the detailed and naturalistic style that was so influential during the Meiji period.
