Contemporary Japanese studio pottery vase of sculptural angular form with a whitish toned glaze by Miyagawa Kiyoshi (b. 1943)

Miyagawa Kiyoshi was born in Osaka and attended the Kyoto University of Art, Ceramics division, after which he studied under both Living National Treasure Kondo Yuzo and Kiyomizu Kyubei. Following this he worked in glass sculpture and 5 years later apprenticed under Makuzu (Miyagawa) Kosai, head of the Makuzu kiln in Kyoto. He has been represented at both the National Traditional Crafts Exhibition (Nihon Dento Kogei Ten) as well as the National Ceramics Exhibition (Nihon Togei Ten) and best in show at the Kinki Regional Crafts Exhibition.
