This traditional kokeshi doll originates from Yajirō in Miyagi Prefecture and is the work of the renowned craftsman Niiyama Keishi. Characteristic of the Yajirō style, the doll features a distinctive waisted torso and is decorated with a boldly striped black kimono. The confident painted lines and balanced proportions highlight the maker’s skill, while the elegant form reflects the regional identity and folk-art traditions of Miyagi. Both decorative and collectible, this piece is a fine example of classic Yajirō kokeshi craftsmanship.
The kokeshi measures approximately 11 cm in diameter and 30 cm in height.
