This traditional kokeshi doll is made in the Hijori style and originates from Yamagata, a region known for its distinctive kokeshi traditions. The elongated, slender form and restrained decoration are characteristic of the Hijori style, giving the piece a refined and understated elegance. Subtle hand-painted details emphasise the natural beauty of the wood and the quiet folk-art sensibility for which Yamagata kokeshi are admired.
