This monumental abstract painting by renowned Balinese artist Gusti Wis stretches to almost four metres in length, creating an immersive and commanding visual experience. The composition is built upon layered shades of green and blue, interwoven with expressive off-white piping of acrylic paint that adds movement, rhythm, and textural depth across the surface. The interplay of colour and line generates a dynamic yet harmonious field, inviting prolonged contemplation.
Gusti Wis describes his practice as an observation of humanity and shared experience:
*"I like to see art through the eyes of people, how to elaborate with the common sense of peoples’ habit and custom. Through these experiences I got the feeling of inclusion and exclusion at the same time. When I or Me become we or us… but yet in this absurd reality as the way I see it, there is one common thing that seems to be humming into a harmonious orchestration in life in general… sometimes I just clearly see it and I capture them and freeze onto my canvas scape…
I watch and examine people a lot."*
This philosophy resonates throughout the work, where individual gestures coalesce into a unified, almost orchestral abstraction. Bold in scale and concept, the painting makes a powerful statement in a contemporary interior or gallery setting.
