Japanese 2-Panel 'Shunga' Screen – Finely Painted Erotic Scenes

A rare and finely executed Japanese two-panel 'shunga' screen, delicately hand-painted with erotic scenes of lovers in moments of intimacy. Rich in both artistic detail and cultural significance, shunga (spring pictures) were a celebrated form of Edo and Meiji period art, often reflecting humor, sensuality, and the fleeting nature of pleasure.

This compact screen presents a tasteful and historically resonant representation of traditional Japanese erotica, with carefully rendered expressions, textiles, and settings that elevate the work beyond the merely suggestive to the realm of artistic storytelling.
