Rare pair of Japanese folk art Seto pottery shishi / Komainu shinto guardian dogs glazed in a dark greenish brown toned glaze, Meiji period, circa 1900.

 

Acknowledged fault: numerous minor firing cracks across surface of both figures, with one large firing crack penetrating the base of the open mouthed dog.

Dimensions: H 25cm x W 15cm x D 20cm
