Hi Mellie,
Thank you for writing about Kazari cafe. I’m frequent there. As a
Japanese national, I’ve often lamented qulaity of so called
“Japanese” cafe/restaurant. Soy sauce and rice don’t alone make any
food Japanese! At Kazari, you can enjoy real Japanese taste/palate.
The Chef is from Kyoto, capital of traditional Japanese cusine, and
her soup stock is excellent!

"Café Kazari is the best kept secret in Melbourne if you love
fresh, tasty, elegant Japanese Kyoto style food & I am not sure
why I am going public with this secret!
Emiko is a Master Chef working her magic in the tiny kitchen at
the back of the wonderful Kazari Collector, using fresh seasonal
ingredients served by friendly Japanese staff and I love going
there for lunch looking onto the serene courtyard with beautiful
Japanese maple trees & browsing in the Gallery.
I chose Café Kazari for my ‘Not yet 60th’ Birthday celebration
& had a private banquet dinner for my closest 20 family &
friends; it was really unique, special & everyone loved the
ambience & especially the food & specially chosen
sake."

" We always enjoy our quiet refuge at Café Kazari –
it is a lovely setting for a quiet lunch of fresh and delicious
food in the sunny courtyard or inside enjoying the visual feast of
Asian arts.
Great dinners featuring Emiko’s offerings, always a
fun crowd or bring your own (drinks or company) for a unique
evening.
Our office Christmas lunch was superbly catered and
just the right ambience for a relaxed gourmet experience."

" I'm very tentative to write this as, selfishly, I
love the fact that we can nearly always get a table when we book.
If I rave too much will we ever get in? It would be really naughty
though, if we didn't let you know how incredibly impressed we are
with the seasonal dinners you have been holding. We honestly
thought the lunches were fabulous but the delight in walking slowly
through a closed gallery is heavenly & then sitting down
quietly to dinner is dreamy. It seems the juggle that is life stops
& Emiko descends with such tranquilly to feed us some of the
freshest, cleanest food we have ever tasted. Japanese, home style
cooking that is interesting, so clever & that little bit
different ...and we can bring our own wines! Is this not
Melbourne's best kept secret?"
